Beckhoff

Delivered 2023 for Beckhoff’s Technical Centre, Huntingdon, United Kingdom

Requirement

Beckhoff Automation wanted to transform their Technical Centre into a showcase for their smart building automation solutions. The project involved upgrading the lighting control system and implementing various automation features, including lighting control, automated shading, heating & cooling control, air quality measurement & management, and energy monitoring. They required a solution that would provide flexible, self-diagnosing, easily maintainable, and energy-efficient lighting for the facility. The project had a challenging timeline for completion.

Solution

Ecoally provided the following LED lighting products and solutions as part of the upgrade:

  • Quasar T 2700-6500K 600x600mm LED colour-tunable panels
  • Cool White Panels
  • Tridonic EM ready2apply PRO 2W non-maintained emergency spotlights
  • Tridonic MSensor G3 PIRs

These lighting products connected seamlessly to the DALI/DALI2 networks without the need for additional external drivers or interfaces. Ecoally’s solution allowed for easy installation, maintenance, and future expansion of the lighting system.

Outcomes

The delivery of the project by Ecoally resulted in the following outcomes and benefits:

  • The Technical Centre now has a flexible and easily maintainable lighting system that serves as a showcase for Beckhoff’s TF8050 Lighting Solution.
  • The lighting control system incorporates “human-centric” color-tunable lighting (HCL), automated emergency light testing, and dynamic reconfiguration of complex lighting circuits.
  • Lighting colour temperature adjusts automatically throughout the day, optimizing energy performance and promoting a pleasant working environment.
  • Comprehensive feedback data is provided by the DALI2 Tridonic EM ready2apply emergency spotlight fittings, enabling automatic testing of functionality and battery duration.
  • Lighting can be controlled via DALI2 scene panel switches, wireless EnOcean switches, or the touch-screen panel that monitors the status of the building.
  • Data such as hours run and energy usage is continuously calculated, supporting a preventative maintenance plan.

Customer Testimonial

“We know that we now have a flexible, self-diagnosing, easily maintainable, and energy-efficient lighting system at the Technical Centre.
